MARCH4MHC

Community Challenge

Because the march — for access, opportunity, progress — goes on.

M4MHC-Launch-04

On March 4–5, join us in supporting the place that has emboldened and empowered so many to press forward for change. Make a gift of any size to The Mount Holyoke Fund as part of the March4MHC Community Challenge and invest in the future of MHC.

2 days. 4,000 donors. $400,000.

The power of community:
To help you increase the impact of your philanthropy, a group of anonymous donors will give $50,000 to The Mount Holyoke Fund for every 500 donors who make a gift during the challenge days!

Your gift matters. Every gift matters. When we come together, we elevate and inspire one another to push boundaries, broaden perspectives and shape the future. Learn how you can get involved:

This is a real Community Challenge, meaning any alum, student, faculty, staff or friend of the College is welcome to participate! With that said, each donor will only be counted once, so encourage all of your classmates, friends and family to join the fun so we can earn the full $400,000 in challenge funds.

The challenge starts at 12:01 a.m. EST on March 4. The GiveCampus page will remain open until 11:59 p.m. PST March 5, to allow those on the West Coast to get their gifts in.

On March 4–5, make your gift via:

  • GiveCampus
  • PayPal
  • MHC website
  • Venmo (@mountholyokefund1837)
  • Phone (800-642-4483/800-MHC-GIVE). Must call between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. EST.
  • In person on campus! You can stop by Mary Woolley Hall during business hours (8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.) or you can find us tabling outside of the Dining Commons.

*If you have questions about how to make a gift, please reach out to marylyon@mtholyoke.edu.

We know the Mount Holyoke community loves a challenge, so we are adding some extra incentives to inspire those of you who are a little competitive. We have two donor-based challenges for our alumnae/senior classes; for both challenges, we’re looking at donors, not dollars.

Challenge Donor Leaders: The 15 classes with the most donors to The Mount Holyoke Fund on March 4-5 will win additional prize funds that will be added to their fundraising total at the end of the year.

Participation Leaders: The 15 classes with the highest overall alumnae participation rates after our March4MHC Community Challenge will win additional prize funds that will be added to their fundraising total at the end of the year.

Prize structure:

1st: $15,000
2nd: $14,000
3rd: $13,000
4th: $12,000
5th: $11,000
6th: $10,000
7th: $9,000
8th: $8,000
9th: $7,000
10th: $6,000
11th: $5,000
12th: $4,000
13th $3,000
14th: $2,000
15th: $1,000

Please note: this community challenge is replacing the Class Color Cup. There will not be another challenge in February of this year, so if you are feeling competitive, make sure to give March 4-5.

We are happy to provide some images and graphics for you to help spread the word through email or social media. You can download the graphics directly from this landing page. If you have questions, reach out to marylyon@mtholyoke.edu.

Take a picture in your MHC gear and send it to us! You can also visit us outside the Dining Commons and pick up some fun swag!

If you take the next step and become an Advocate (online or on campus), you can also get some additional swag. Reach out to marylyon@mtholyoke.edu for more information.

Still have questions?

Check out our FAQs below. If you don't see your inquiry addressed here, please reach out to us at marylyon@mtholyoke.edu.

The Mount Holyoke Fund (MHF) is the College’s annual fund. (MHF gifts are not part of the endowment!) MHF gifts are put to work immediately to support the College’s most pressing needs and impact all aspects of campus life — providing funds to recruit and retain the best faculty, financially support our students, update state-of-the-art learning environments, and keep Mount Holyoke’s 800-acre campus beautiful.

There are 12 different gift destinations you can choose from when you make your gift, which will ensure that your support makes a difference where it matters most for you. You can choose:

  • Academic Enrichment
  • Athletics
  • Campus Preservation
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
  • Faculty
  • Library & Archives
  • The Lynk & Career Preparedness
  • Scholarships
  • Student Life
  • Sustainability
  • Technology & Teaching Tools
  • Wherever MHC needs it most

Thank you so much for your support! Only gifts made during the challenge count towards the goal of 4,000 donors. Please consider an additional gift of any size during the challenge days to be counted.

While you may certainly make multiple gifts during the challenge, you will only be counted once as a donor. Multiple gifts will not help to increase the overall donor count or your class donor count. (FPs, however, may make a gift both to the FP class and the class that they graduated with. Their gifts will be counted once for each class for purposes of the class challenges, but they will only be counted once towards the overall goal of 4,000 donors.)

Thank you for your ongoing support! If you set up a new sustaining gift during the challenge, that will be counted for the challenge. If you are already a sustaining donor, you can make an additional gift of any size during the challenge days and you will be counted.

Gifts from the entire MHC community, including friends of the College, will count towards our overall 4,000 donor goal. However, gifts from friends of the College will not count towards the class-based challenges (to win prize funds towards your class gift) because those class challenges are focused on alumnae gifts.

Please contact us at marylyon@mtholyoke.edu or 1-800-MHC-GIVE (1-800-642-4483). We can discuss your options for participating in the challenge, including making a pledge that can be fulfilled by any of these methods by June 30, 2020.

You will be able to set up a match or a challenge on the GiveCampus page starting on March 3.

If you chose to make your gift anonymous through GiveCampus or if you gave through one of the other ways of giving (via the MHC website, PayPal, Venmo or over the phone), we will not publicize your name. We will make sure you are counted in the donor and dollar totals, however! If you have questions about whether your gift was included, you can reach out to marylyon@mtholyoke.edu.

Preliminary results and the Challenge Donor Leaders (15 classes with the most donors) will be announced on Friday, March 6. Final results and the Participation Leaders (15 classes with the highest overall participation rates) will be shared when all gifts have been fully processed and reconciled.
