Your generosity during this uncertain and difficult year has been essential. During the 2019–2020 fiscal year, 9,670 alums, family members, friends, faculty, staff and students made gifts and pledges to Mount Holyoke totaling $30.7 million. 30% of alumnae (8,793) gave back to Mount Holyoke, and $8.86 million was raised for The Mount Holyoke Fund to meet the College’s immediate needs, including $346,544 for the Emergency Student Relief Fund to support students during this unprecedented crisis.
Thank you to the 901 alumnae, faculty, staff, students, family and friends who made gifts to The Mount Holyoke Fund for the Commencement Challenge totaling $205,031, all in honor of the class of 2020. At the same time, our generous community members also shared countless messages of support and congratulations with our graduating blue lions! Inspired by the outpouring of love from this challenge and by the powerful way that our community has come together in recent months, a group of anonymous alumnae have given an additional $100,000 to Mount Holyoke and $2,020 to The Senior Campaign.
Each year the senior class works together to leave behind its legacy, in the form of The Senior Campaign. This provides an opportunity for the class to work together towards a shared goal and a chance for new or established leaders to come up with creative ideas for ways to engage classmates. Led by Head Class Agents (HCAs), with the support of the Class Board, The Senior Campaign allows the class to join forces for the first time with the thousands of alums who paved the way before them.
At Mount Holyoke, this week would normally be the time when underclass students would be traveling home for the summer, alums in reunion classes would be packing their Laurel Parade ensembles and the seniors’ calendars would be packed with celebrations leading into Commencement.
During the 2018–2019 fiscal year, 9,591 alumnae, family members, friends and students made gifts to Mount Holyoke totaling $28.6 million. 8,943 alumnae gave back to Mount Holyoke, and $8.06 million was raised for The Mount Holyoke Fund to meet the College’s immediate needs. These investments in Mount Holyoke help empower students to find their voices, become leaders and inspire others. Your generosity is paramount to the Mount Holyoke experience. Thank you for ensuring that Mount Holyoke forever shall be.
During the 2017-2018 fiscal year, 9,908 alumnae, family members, friends and students made gifts to Mount Holyoke totaling $37.8 million. 32.1% of alumnae (9,187) gave back to Mount Holyoke, and $8.59 million was raised for The Mount Holyoke Fund to meet the College’s immediate needs. These investments in Mount Holyoke pave the way for current students, empowering them to become agents of change — globally competent, environmentally responsible, ready to lead. Thank you for sustaining Mount Holyoke’s legacy of generosity. Because of you, Mount Holyoke forever shall be.
Last week 47 classes (1971-2016 and FPs) competed in our 4th annual FebruMary Decade Challenge, the most successful and most exciting year to date! After a week of intense competition, we ended with a new record — 2,616 donors contributed over $261,000 in just five days. What a remarkable demonstration of the power of the Mount Holyoke community when we come together!
Our 3rd annual FebruMary is almost here! In honor of Mary Lyon’s birthday, February 28, we are once again taking the month to celebrate Mary, the Mount Holyoke community, and our incredible impact on the world. In 2014, we learned about Mary Lyon and the founding of MHC. Last year, we highlighted the community that supported Mary’s vision and invested their time, energy, and resources into creating the Mount Holyoke we know and love today. This FebruMary, we're looking beyond our campus and celebrating the students, alumnae, and community members who take their passions out of the classroom and into the world.
What is in store for our 29 days of fun? Along with another epic FUNdraisng challenge with 45 classes going head to head to see who can get the most donors in 24 hours, we have our FebruMary Facts of the Day where we look at student organizations throughout MHC’s history, as well as #TriviaTuesday and #WhereIsMary Wednesday social media contests.
