Mount Holyoke College Office of the President

Celebrating the heart of Mount Holyoke

As we come to the close of 2017 and look forward to the promise and possibilities of 2018, we offer you and your loved ones our best wishes for the new year.

Over the past year, we have continued our focus on the Plan for Mount Holyoke 2021 and its four pillars, which emphasize leading with distinction, building on our global excellence, creating an inclusive and collaborative community, and effectiveness and financial sustainability. We have seen improvements on every measure in the Plan, and we continue to see results from investments in student success.

Next semester, beginning January 24, our campus will come together as we mark the opening of the Dining Commons with a seven-day celebration of food, culture and community. And, as a part of this, on January 30 we will reveal a new Mount Holyoke ice cream flavor. We will formally celebrate the Community Center’s grand opening in fall 2018 when all of the renovations in Blanchard Hall are complete. The Community Center is now a signature building on our campus, a place with unity, leadership, creativity and engagement at its heart.

In the spring, we look forward to celebrating the anniversary of BOOM! with further programming and events, welcoming a new chief diversity officer, and working to implement the recommendations of the Sustainability Task Force Report.

Since the College’s founding in 1837, we have been making things happen. At the core of the Mount Holyoke experience is a legacy of ideas and action. Our priorities renew the ways in which we enact this tradition, from a maker culture to social and environmental change. We are a community of learners and doers, united by a shared experience here on campus, by a sense of belonging, and by the recognition that each member of this community has a contribution to make.
