Maria Saraf ’16

Maria Saraf ’16 is originally from Islamabad, Pakistan, and has been living in the United States since 2008. She currently resides in Sharon, Massachusetts. She majored in biology and minored in politics, and aspires to a career in medicine. Her senior year biology thesis was on gecko locomotion. In addition to her involvement in the Mount Holyoke College Model UN executive board (treasurer 2014–2015; vice president 2015–2016), she was the project coordinator for the Mount Holyoke College chapter of Habitat for Humanity and a Peer-Led Undergraduate Mentoring System (PLUMS) mentor in cell biology. One of her favorite quotes is by Henry David Thoreau: “None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm.”

Making her (West) point

When it comes to Mount Holyoke College Model United Nations (MHCMUN), I was a little late to the party. I joined the second semester of my sophomore year. I knew instantly that I had found it: a group that I would stay a part of until the end of college.
